So this took all day. I don't think I've ever done this much background art for a pony comic before. I couldn't really cheat on this one. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of this tiny little church. I figure Pinkie's family is at least a tad religious. So people liked Maud and Cobblestone and someone asked if I was going to give them any children and then I thought "What if Pinkie and Maud got married at the same time and had kids at the same time, I could do some funny little pics with that idea" Of course this one's not really funny so much as it is sweet. If you read Thanks for listening you might have inferred that Pinkie and Maud were both still single when Ignious died (and indeed they were) In retrospect this makes a line from BigMac in one chapter kind of ironic. I picture Pinkie as being a bit of a daddy's girl and thus was allowed to get away with a bit more than her sisters, however just because her dad accepted her life choices that doesn't mean he necessarily agreed with all of them. So Pinkie has this nagging insecurity that her dad was secretly ashamed of her, of course he wasn't, it's all in her head. So Marble's daughter ApplePie is the flower girl though she's probably only two years old or so in this pick, just old enough to be walking around and starting to talk. But I guess you could get a 2 year old to walk in a straight line and throw flower petals. in the back row to the left there's crazy looking mare named Geod, she's one of Mauds work friends (another geologist) Geod is a bit loony and most ponies are turned off by it but Maud enjoys her eccentricity as she reminds her of Pinkie. Also in the the background in the last panel across from Pinkie's mom is Coovlestone's brother and nephew though you can't really see them much through Ignous's ghost head.
